> What should I do to ensure my lip heals and doesn't get infected?

Well for a start changing jewellery early increases your chances of infection a lot so that was a silly mistake.

> My friends with piercings said this would be alright as long as I cleaned the jewelry

Your friends are wrong and do not know how to look after piercings.

Have a little common sense here, do you really think changing jewellery 5 days after being pierced is a good thing to do?

You need to put in the initial jewellery as rings move around too much and will cause a longer healing period due to irritation. Then you need to clean it twice daily with sea salt soaks and then leave it the hell alone.

For sea salt soaks:

Mix 1/4 of a teaspoon of non-iodised sea salt with a mug of boiled water, leave it to cool so it's warm but won't burn you and soak your piercing in the solution until it cools. There is no need to twist or remove the jewellery as the heat from the soak will draw out any bacteria and it will get right through your piercing. Rinse any excess salt left behind with some fresh, clean water.

Avoid using mouthwash that contains alcohol as well as this is too harsh and drying for your piercing.

Normal. It will take about a week for the swelling and redness to go down. If you can, try not to sleep on just one side at night so one ear, over the other, doesn't get all of the pressure.

Take a shower the night before. And use a real antiperspirant. Ive heard your body gets used to one type of deodorant so its good to switch it up every few months. Also, get some good cologne, toss that axe crap. Hope this helps.

My absolute favorites are Sun and Beautisol. I've been using sunless tanners for 10 years, and it is BY FAR the most natural looking formula that I have found. You can order both online and they are available in selected beauty stores!

If you're looking for something less expensive, I'd go with Jergens and just apply it daily as your moisturizer!

Take whatever cleaning solution you were given/instructed to use and put it on a q-tip and clean the piercing and the jewelery, the more you clean, the more the gunk will loosen it and the easier it will be to adjust, then move it and clean it very well.
And don't just move it it a quick push, slowly wiggle it and add more solution.

Its a formation of dead pigment in your skin. Its fine, there also known as *angel kisses*. They are perfectly normal, and it could be due to weather change. Dont worry at all, Unless the dark spot grows to an extended amount. Other than that, its fine. The more worry we put on something, the more we stress. Just relax, and thank god that you have such a well producing body my dear :)

As long as the brown spot is flat and stays the same size and doesn't hurt I wouldn't about it. If it causes pain, changes color or size or if it lumps up have it checked out to rule out skin cancer. Keep an eye on it and good luck.
