Any advice about piercing lip (home piercing)?

    This summmer, or sooner, i'm going to be piercing the right side of my bottom lip by myself, and then eventually the other side so i can have snake bites. The only other piercing i have done by myself is my cartilage (and it got infected, because i touched it all the time) and im streching my ears. I need some advice so it doesn't get infected. Like what to use, how to clean it, and stuff like that. Im not sure if im going to use a stud or ring yet. Pllleasse help! Thanks :)

    Okay, piercing it by yourself, is usually a bad idea.
    But if you really don't want to go professionally...
    Get a gauge needle (hollow needle), NOT a sewing needle because it's too small.
    Sterilize it, and clean your lip really well with antibacterial stuff.
    Make sure you mark the spot, to make sure you want it there.
    Afterward, I would recommend a stud for the first little while until it heals, it makes it heal faster. Oh and make sure it's a longer stud, because of the swelling.
    Don't eat dairy foods, or spicy foods (ahhh ouch), because dairy can cause infections because of bacteria in it, and spicy foods... Well, they hurt.
    But anywho, make sure to clean it very well afterward, and everytime you eat, rinse your mouth with ORIGINAL mouthwash mixed with a bit of water.
    For a few days after, it will obviously be swollen and sore. Use ice, or take something to make the swelling go down.

    yeah, don't touch it a lot, that'll infect it unless your wearing gloves or you just washed your hands.

    so make sure you clean the area your going to pierce with alcohol or something, then make sure your needle is bigger than the ring so it will fit for sure.
    you could also get some professional cleaning stuff from like claires or hot topic.

    Ohh my best friend did this ohh geez I can't remember exactly but I'm pretty sure she used ice for awhile and then orajel on both sides she said it didn't make it completely painless. but it was bearable

    Dont do it. you will get a bad infection and the piercing will look bad trust me.
    just dish out the cash and get it done by a pro.

    i pierced muh lip like 3 weeks ago(buh muh self) nd it definitely hurts less ten da cartilage. it took 1 week 2 heel..the 1st few days it will feel weird 2 eat but afta a while u dont even realize u pierced it. i used biotene mouthwash but u can use ani types of mouthwash 2 clean it.

    wen i wuz piercin it i didnt use ice or anithin lik tat...i tellin u the lip is the most painless piercin outere(i pierced muh carlidge, 3 ear lobes, tongue,labret, nd belly button...again all buh muh self nd the lip was the most painless) i used a push pin 2 pierce it ...but i suggest u use a regular needle...well i hope this kinda helps u

    I have snakebites and I did them by myself.
    Just make sure you sterilize the needle and everything, and really try to not touch them,, then they're bound to get infected.
