The actual event of the piercing doesn't hurt, but it is the swelling for the next 3 days that hurts. Suck on ice and take ibuprofen. It's worth it .

Does it hurt to get your tongue pierced?

It feels like a railroad stake being shoved into your tongue and then hit with a large hammer, just kidding i have heard it does not hurt too bad, your eyes naturally might get a little watery but that's it, it also might sting just a little.

It hurts. Not like biting it though. That is more painful. It is not comfortable, and the days after are worse than the piercing. I have had mine done twice. I hated having a barbell rattle on my teeth so I took it out.

Not at all :) This is how it goes down- He will mark your tongue and make sure it's not going to hit any veins, Asks if you like the spot, Then he gives you this blue stuff you have to swish in you're mouth for 30 seconds, this numbs your tongue ( it's nasty smelling! bleh) so then he's like breathe in and on 3 breathe out so i did it only felt like a little pinch not bad at all so he puts the ball on and wala your all done. You have to leave the bigger bar bell on for a week or so until the swelling goes down ( trust me it will swell and you can't hardly eat anything i wil list some stuff you can eat) make sure to brush your teeth like 3 times a day keep it clean!

Popsicles
mashed potato's

It doesn't hurt to be pierced.
But do go to a great piercing place even if it costs $5 or $10 more than other places.
It will speed up recovery time and thats the real biech.
Ive had mine 4times!! the first 3 were pierced wrong so it NEVER healed and got sooo huge i had to take it out because i couldnt eat anything and after 5 days i couldnt take it. the 4th healed right away. 2 days no solids. then i was golden.going to a nice place makes ALL the difference

Obviously. The question should be, how much does it hurt- and the answer to this would be 'it depends.' Seriously, every single person has a different tolerance for pain. What hurts me may be next to nothing for you.
