I've tried scrunching my hair so many times but it won't scrunch! My hair comes down just barely below the shoulders and is very straight. I don't have a diffuser for my blow dryer so maybe that is it? I just really want to scrunch my hair, so please help! [:

I had the same problem !! Okay so you should get, Curling mousse, curling gel (if you cant get that light gel could be a replacement for curling gel) and hairspray. herbel essences, or garnier fructisee are good brands.
step one: Take a shower and wash it thoroughly, after washing out the conditioner run a comb through your hair, make sure to take out all knots.
step two: as soon as you get out of the shower put your hair in a towel for a couple of minutes. no longer than 10.
step three: take your hair out but don't brush it out, then you wont be able to get your hair scrunched well enough and thats why you comb it in the shower.. flip your hair over and grab a good amount of gel and start scrunching your hair from the tips up.
step four: when you think you've put enough gel, proceed to do step 3 again but with the mousse make sure to use alot.
step five: when you are done scrunching, tie your hair in a messy bun. that means grabbing all your hair and tieing it messily but not a ponytail . Keep it in for 15-30 minutes .
step six: spray hairspray over your messy bun leave it for 1-2minutes then take your hair out of the messy bun.
heres a video that has steps similar to mine but it would provide a visual , and is pretty effective.

1.Shampoo and condition with products formulated to improve your hair's texture and flexibility.
2.Towel dry your hair so that it is damp, not dripping.
3.Apply a firm hold styling aid from the root area to the ends. Hair Gel or Glaze is usually better for heavy hair and Styling Foam or Mousse usually works for fine hair. You may have to experiment to see which works for you.
4.To dry your hair, you will either use a diffuser or let it dry naturally. Either way, you must be patient to not rush the drying process.
5.Grab a chunk of hair, squeeze and push the ends up toward your head, causing it to 'crinkle'. If you are using a diffuser, direct the air flow toward the chunk of hair you are working with. Drop that piece of hair and grab another chunk. Repeat the process until you have worked with all of your hair. Go over it again and again until your hair is dry.
◦Grabbing small chunks of hair and working more slowly will give you more curl.
◦Larger chunks of hair will give a larger wave effect.
To save time, shorten the process by:
As soon as you get up, get into the shower.
Follow step 1
Immediately upon getting out follow step 2.
Then grab chunks of hair, wad them up and clip them to your head loosely. (The clips to use are similar to those used with hot rollers. Only without the rollers!)They must be loose enough for the air to circulate. When you have all of your hair up in clips, it will be messy looking..
When you are dressed and have your make-up on, check your hair. If it is still very wet, use the diffuser on it.
When it is almost dry, carefully take out all the clips. Continue scrunching, using the diffuser until your hair is completely dry.
To get rid of any frizz, finish your style by scrunching some hair creme into the ends and adding spray shine.Posted 2 years ago # -
wow thats interesting to scrunch whats naturally straight.
a diffuser may not work for you. You could try when washing your har, scrunch it with your hands with mousse and then pull it up into a pony tail but ring it around several times and pin it and leave it in then let it down maybe after you sleep in it. hope it helps.I have wavy, curly hair so it works for me either way and thank God for straightners cause I can have very straight hair too :)

..Or it's the fact that your hair is straight. Scrunching and a diffuser is for people with NATURAL curly or wavy hair. It defines it. Not gives it.
