from your description it sounds like your trying to go a bit of a lighter shade? and also redder (which i think will look really cool :) ) but deffo use permanent because you cant go lighter using non permanent (trust me i tried and for some reason it just isnt possible! seriously google it haha :D)
if the shade you want isnt really lighter just. . . different then still use a permanent because my friend used a non permanent when she went a bit darker and it just faded to a (kinda horrible ;) ) mousey colour after like 2-3 days. so yeah deffiantely use permanent
also if you havent ever dyed your hair before or dont have a friend that's dyed your hair then i would go to the hair dressers to do it as it willl look more natural, unless (like me) you have a friend who has done it a few times before who can do it for you :)
    hope this helps! x

go to a salon, a permant hair dye might work better but to get it to where it really looks good and turns out how you want it to, see a hair dresser

if you are going to pay salon prices ask for a demi-permanent it lasts longer than semi. you could try a semi permanent dye that is really red (like punk colors) but if your hair is really dark you might not see any difference. brown to red is lightening, which is permanent, and probably better left to a pro!
