I straighten my hair almost everyday, and I'm not sure whether or not I should get my hair cut or at least trimmed once a month, or what?

You need to go to the hairdresser several times per year. How often you get it cut will depend on your budget and of course on the style of your hair.

A short haircut will stay in style for a maximum of 4 weeks. When your hair is medium length you should go to the hairdresser about every 5 weeks. If you have long hair you'll need a trim every 6 weeks to avoid split ends.

Of course these are just averages. Depending on the condition (= health) of your hair you'll need more or less visits to the hair salon.

When you are letting your hair grow out you still need to go to the hairdresser once in a while, at least once in 8 weeks. It is not because you want to have long hair that you don't need to get it trimmed once in a while to keep it healthy (split ends!) and to avoid that it starts looking awful.

A perm will last for one to three months. In exceptional cases it lasts for
    a year.

get your hair cut when you start getting really obvious split ends. But then just get the ends cut, if you want to maintain your length.

First of all, make sure that you use a good thermal heat protection product. Every 6 weeks is a norm for a trim, unless you are maintaining a short hairstyle.

Your Supposed to Trim Your Hair Every 2 Months
Even If You Don't Straighten It Everyday.
    Hope It Helps. (:

  6. If you are maintaining a short style you should go about every 4 wks.

If you are just trying to keep hair "nice" looking you should go about every 6 wks.

If you rarely cut your hair and are just wondering how long you can go between cuts, there really isn't a set rule. Once you notice split ends you should have your split ends trimmed off.

When split ends become a nightmare, then I think that's when your hair deserves a trim.

Straightening will obviously damage it more, so when it looks to you that you need a trim then get one. You should also use a heat protector to help protect against damage and deep condition your hair also.

Sorry if I gave you unnecessary information.
