..so try this...regular trims are a must, about every 7-9 weeks.(if your hair is really healthy then up the trims to about every 12 weeks, a trim is just a snip off the ends) if its been awhile since you have had a trim then inches may be called for to get to healthy hair. i use vitamin e on fresh washed hair.(its a vitamin that can be purchased where you buy vitamins, cut open capsule, squeeze into hand, rub hands together and apply to hair) dont message into scalp. if you get too much then just rewash it. hair will feel slightly sticky until dry then it will be nice and soft. it tames the frizzies, deep conditions and makes hair grow about three in a month. it takes about a month for the growth part of the e to kick in. the other benefits are instant. dont brush your hair but maybe three or four times a week to message the scalp, dry hair, never wet, i use a wide tooth comb at other times. brushing breaks off hair. biotin is cheap and also promotes hair regrowth and growth. i also have the biotin shampoo that i got from a vitamin store online.(puritans pride.com or vitadigest.com) five bucks for a big bottle and a big bottle of E is about 8 bucks. the biotin is about 3 bucks. i now take my fingers and message my scalp about five times a week, along with the brushing thats a good way to do it without damaging your hair. apply two or three capsules of e to dry hair and message into scalp and hair really well, put damp towel in microwave for 1 min to get hot, then quickly wrap head, a dry towel can be placed over that to help hold in the heat, leave on for 15 min, shampoo well, makes an excellent hot oil treatment. good luck, AND some people will argue about regular trims, your hair does grow from the roots, yes, but if your hair is not trimmed at the bottom, the it splits, get dry and brittle not to mention thin looking from no trims at all and frizzy. then your hair starts to break off at the bottom and giving you the appearance that it never grows. so to make hair grow as fast as possible and keep it healthy, then trims are an essential part of hair care. look on a ruler and check out less then half an inch and if your salon does not know what that is then take a ruler with you, i have. i added beta carotene vitamins to my regimen. i found out that along with the biotin it is very very good in promoting hair growth. they were five bucks for a bottle of 100. got them at walmart. the biotin and e can also be purchased at walmart, and adding all this up is pretty cheap to get great hair. the shampoo is now available in the new food lion stores. just found this out.

Straighten your hair and make sure you keep it trimmed. Very Simple. as far as where you should stop at, its clearly up to you.

If your hair grows slowly like mine does, you will need to make a commitment of at least 3-6 years to get the long hair you desire. Some people think growing their hair long means getting only the slightest of trims every few months or so or not cutting it at all--this will only result in split ends which will eventually go all the way up the hair shaft, leaving the hair at the top of the head healthy and the hair below the shoulders frayed. Not attractive.
Get a 2-4 inch trim every 5-6 months. Cutting your hair often actually makes it grow faster, since the hair becomes healthier as a result. For shine, make sure to include olive oil in your meals or take capsules of it.
How long is long enough depends entirely on personal choice. Consider your face shape and body type, and what will flatter each the most. To stop growing your hair is rather simple---simply go to the hair salon and ask them to cut it. Keep it at the length you like.

Well, it is really up to you on how long you want it to grow. We all have that one special length that we are comfortable with. Like as for myself, i cannot stand it when my hair is short, it has to be long enough to put in a long ponytail. But as for how to get it to stay the same length, get it trimmed regularly and tell the barber to cut it to the same length every time. If you find a barber that you like you should stay with that barber because once they get used to cutting your hair to that one length, they will know how you like it and whether you want it layered and so on.

Keep it trimmed! It will reduce tangles. Every like 6 weeks I get mine cut and it is much healthier.

This is going to sound weird, but after you shampoo use a rinse of ½ & ½ vinegar and water. Plain white or cider vinegar works best. Just pour it through your hair, finger comb it and rinse it well. What that does is take ALL the shampoo or products off your hair. Those are the things that cause your hair to tangle. As an extra bonus, your hair will be brighter than you've seen it in a long time!
I have naturally curly ... think naturally tangled ... hair and when I had it long (close to waist length) I used the vinegar rinse and didn't even use a conditioner or de-tangler.
Oh, one hint. When you wash your hair, don't scrub your scalp with your nails. Use the tips of your fingers. If you scrub with nails the vinegar will burn when you pour it on your hair!

My wife said the same thing from 1970 to 1979. Her hair was to waist in 70 and when she cut it in 1979 it was 9' 3". She averaged 1" a month in growth, ate fruits as a supplemental to growth, dd not drink or smoke.
She used Long and Silky, but; found out that past knee length, Mane and Tail kept it strong and shinny also.
Good luck, it is a lot of care to care for that much long hair, but; so glorious too look at and see others asking about how did you do that.
When do you stop?? good question, usually when you tire of it.Posted 2 years ago # -
I'm letting mine grow now for 2 years and it's now to the middle of my back. It stared out at about 1". It's longer than it has ever been, but it's been 1-4 inches for the past 30 years so this is a big change.
Knowing when to stop is my problem too. One of my friends asked me how long I was going to grow it and I said till I get sick of it. A guy told me once it's so sensuous to run your fingers through it. Well I run my fingers through it and told him I haven't gotten that sensuous feeling yet. lolPosted 2 years ago # -
