My friend pierced her belly button with a safety pin and nothing happened. But she made sure she put rubbing alcohol on her belly button and the safety pin
Only bad thing that could actually happen too any piercing is it could get infected..
Just make sure u clean it with rubbing alcohol for a couple days or till it heals.

You could get a skin infection if you didn't properly sterilize the pin. Make sure to sterilize the area in which you pierced.

It will get infected.
Safety pins are not sterile. They are a lot harder to clean than a regular needle. It doesn't matter if the pin has never been used before, it's still not sterile.Bellybutton piercings are dangerous to do on your own. They are one of those piercings that MUST be done by a professional, or it is guaranteed to go wrong. I don't know of anyone who has pierced their own bellybutton and not gotten infected from it.
I suggest you take it out unless you want a nasty infection and thinning skin on your upper bellybutton.

Well I do hope you disinfected the safety pin for one!! Did you ask anyone how??? Is the hole big enough for ring? =. I can tell you that sadly there is ALOT that could happen!! Call your doctor and ask what he recommends for a cleaner, etc.

That's really gross. Of course bad things can and probably will happen if you don't have the right cleaning supplies for it. It will get infected, all crusty and painful, and well that's it.

Tetanus, hepatitis and other nasty things from the unsterilized pin. Because it's dull, it can cause more scar tissue than necessary, resulting in a really ugly looking piercing. Can't really think of anything else at the top of my head, but I'd get to a doctors asap.

It may get infected like everyone else had mentioned, but don't clean it with rubbing alcohol like the person above said! I have my naval pierced, and rubbing alcohol is not good to clean it with. If you do keep it, clean it with non-iodized salt water...

if the safety pin was not clean then the piercing may become infected. make sure that you clean it thoroughly to avoid any further dirt getting into the piercing.
