at first I thought you said american apparel. but you said american living which is at JC Penny.

From the look of it, yes, it could be considered preppy. i believe it is a knock off low end version of Ralph Lauren.

of course this depends on your age. if you are over the age of 30, preppy to us is places like Ralph Lauren, Brooks Brothers, J. Crew, LL Bean, etc.

If you are under the age of 30, you would be apt to call things like holliser, abercrombie and such preppy.

no. the real wealthy and affluent, no matter what age, and the older generation KNOW that american eagle, hollister, a&f, and american eagle isn't preppy. younger preteens or kids that are generally in their teens and middle-class think it is because to them, it's expensive and automatically considered preppy.

real preppy is j.crew, ralph lauren, brooks brothers, lacoste, burberry, hermes, dior, chanel, kate spade, donna karan, fendi, etc.

you usually find a lot of "preps" in new england, where there are a lot of prep schools and ivy leagues. any ivy league, really. i come from ne, and where i'm from, there are a lot of affluent, white-collared families that just don't shop at a&f, hollister, etc.
