Hey there,
A tattoo on your lower back does not "make you cheap". One could were a nun's uniform and still be considered cheap. Cheap is what cheap does.
It is more about how you carry yourself. Are you getting this tattoo for everyone else to see.... ie, will you be wearing your jeans so low that the tattoo is visible? Or are you getting the tattoo for your personal gratification? (ie. your own little secret)?
What we are talking about is PERCEPTION and DELIVERY. What do YOU perceive about yourself and what message do YOU want to deliver.... without saying a word.

Yes, it makes them look like sluts. Why do you think they are called stripper tags?

They don't call them Tramp Stamps for nothing.

Umm ... I'm just suggesting ...
I don't think so unless its a really weird tattoo or if its a big one. :D

A tramp stamp makes a fine landing pattern.

total tramp stamp. It's like a target for frat boy types. It screams "I'm easy, just get me drunk!"

I find it neat and cute when its not on the body because it's kind of common but maybe on the wrist, feet or hand.. cute . but you choose?

it all depends on the tattoo and the person who has the tattoo. They are very common these days though. If you look at others and think it makes them look cheap then I wouldn't suggest it for yourself. Will it be your first tattoo?? If so, find a spot and a tattoo you will be sure that you will like in the future (or can cover up :))

I personally think they are really cute. But I would never get one. Everyone I know calls them tramp stamps and they have a "nice" story that goes along with why they are called that (but I'm not going to repeat it). If you are doing it for yourself and you don't really care what others think, then go for it. But be warned, when people see it, they are going to start forming opinions about you that you probably don't want.
On a side note, maybe call up your local tattoo shop and ask them about it. Ask them what they hear about it, if their customers seem happy with it, would they suggest getting it. And if you want to stick with a specific design you already have picked out, take it in to the shop and ask them to help you choose another spot on your body to put it (like wrists or something if it can be scaled down).

There's a difference between a tramp stamp and a full blown lower back piece.
Tramp stamps are trashy.
Large lower back pieces are cool.

If you have to ask, you know already the stigma this kind of tattoo holds.

I agree that a full lower back tattoo is kinda more classy then just a tiny lower back tattoo "tramp stamp"; I guess it just depends on what your design is and how big it is. If you haven't seen anything similar like that on anyone else then go for it. Just make sure its what you really want and that you won't regret it 5 yrs from now.
