A gauge is a unit of measurement, not a type of jewelry. And the O-rings probably aren't the problem - it's the tapers. Tapers are NOT jewelry. The O-rings are probably too close to your ears as well, putting pressure on them & not allowing them to swell all the way. Buy actual jewelry (you can buy jewelry without O-rings) and stop wearing tapers.

    1. To gauge is to measure. You're not measuring your ears, you're stretching them.
    2. Tapers aren't meant to be worn, they're meant to aid in the stretch and then you put in proper jewelry right away.
Chances are you're allergic to low quality jewelry which is why the o-rings cause a problem. Stick with implant grade steel or titanium and you shouldn't have any problems.
