    Hey guys.
I have naturally curly almost black hair, just past the shoulders. After I air dry my hair it gets so poofy. And when its really warm outside and when i sweat from the heat it also gets poofy. Also on humid days. My hair is dry and extremely thick. It cant be tamed because its so thick. And when i try straightening it, it does the same thing. I cant wear my hair out because its so big and thick.

Can someone tell me what products i can use on my thick dry poofy curly hair so it wouldnt be so big.

And can someone tell me what products i can use to straighten my hair pin straight.

I'd really like to wear my hair out curly and straight without putting it in a ponytail!

*I'm Puertorican so that should explain the thickness! I know some spanish people with thick hair

Thank you guys so much. I would really appreciate it.

I use Matrix Biolage Hydrate shampoo and then use the same conditioner, that stops my hair from flying away, then I put an anti frizz cream which also works as a damage controller. When my hair dries, I straighten it using Remington Shine therapy hair straightener with avocado oil, it straightens my hair in 10 minutes and my hair stays straight till the next wash (with Chi, the hair would not stay straightened too long). Humidity also doesnt afftect the straightness of the hair.
You could tie the hair up and twist it into a chignon, youtube has a no of videos which can teach you to do that easily.

A product I think works really well is "Biosilk, Silk Therapy". Its like a shampoo/gel product that you put in your hair after a shower and it works really well to make your hair smooth and soft. Another product I think is really good is "Bed head, TIGI After Party" it is a cream type thing you can put in your hair to make it shiny, silky, and less frizzy and puffy. These products work really well and they are not expensive.

I have the exact same type of hair and for mine i give myself a hot oil hair treatment(with extra virgin olive oil) once a week. The extra virgin olive keeps my hair shiny and healthy as well as prevent dandruff and dry scalp. It also prevents hair breakage and split ends, so for that here's what you do:
-get a half a cup of E.V.O.O and heat it up only for 30 sec in the microwave
-apply it to your hair and cover your hair with a shower cap or bag
-leave in for 30min or longer
-then, wash it out regularly with shampoo (you can use a bit of conditioner to detangle, but you don't need a lot because the oil will soften your hair quite a bit)

also, i recommend that you avoid straightening your hair because it will cause more damage and dry it out.

I usually detangle my hair in the shower when it has conditioner in it...then after my shower i towel dry and apply mouse in my hair while it is still damp. depending on the weather (like if it is really humid) i will spray a little bit of hairspray in my hair right after the mouse while my hair is damp. Then i blow dry my hair upside down with a defuser or i lightly" scrunch my hair as i blow dry. when i finish i flip my hair back and let the curls fall naturally.

For shampoo and conditioner i switch products every 3 months so my hair won't get used to it...and i used very creamy light weight conditioners. The same for my mouse and hairspray.

    I hope this helps...good luck :)
