what are these Hair straighteners/flat irons called?

    They are called a marcel iron and require an "oven" to heat up the tool. Using this type of tool takes a lot of practice. The tool is much hotter than a regular curling iron or flat iron. It requires a stove to heat up the tool. Then you need to test the heat on a piece of paper to make sure it isn't too hot to burn the hair. Additionally, you should also get a rubber comb to put in between the tool and the head if you curl the hair up to the scalp. You can get this at Sally's.
