Have you tried the mineral makeup that's out there. This is all I use now and you can control much easier how much you want on and it covers nice.

What foundation would you recommend?

This question is near enough impossible to answer with one foundation. It totally depends on what you want from your foundation in terms of coverage and finish. Here are some ideas for different types of foundation:
If you want low coverage: Laura Mercier oil free tinted moisturiser. This will balance out your skin at the same time as it provides a little bit of coverage by moisturising the dry areas and mattifying the oily areas.
Light coverage: Estée Lauder Double wear light foundation. This controls oil really well and lasts ALL DAY on my oily skin. It won't cover any serious blemishes though, just make your skin look even.
Medium Coverage: Chanel Mat Lumiere foundation. This will mattify your skin and cover up most blemishes. Good lasting power and great for oily skin.
Medium-full coverage: Estée Lauder double wear foundation. Stunning product. Mattifies all day, lasts FOREVER, and covers nearly everything on your face.
If you want a powder foundation (this might help mattify): MAC Studio Finish Powder Plus Foundation. Very buildable coverage from sheer to full, depending on how many layers you apply and what sort of brush you use. Doesn't last as long as liquids but easy to carry around for touchups. Wide colour range.
