Well what I can recommend is that you make sure you get your split ends cut regularly and don't get it razor cut, that will give you split ends like crazy and make your hair break so much. Also you can try not washing your hair every day so you let the natural oils keep your hair well nourished and less brittle. Also taking some supplements like Biotin (B-vitamin) or Silica (mineral) work well with strengthening your hair.
I honestly think you might just have weak hair and need to strengthen it (:
Best of luck!!

There could be a few things that can cause this. 1) your hair can be naturally curly, but when your hair is longer then the weight of your hair will weigh down your curls making it seem like your curls are looser than what they really are. For instance, when you take a shower and your hair is soaking wet do you notice that your hair looks straighter compared to when it's dry? It's similar when your hair is longer. So, now that your hair is shorter and without all the weight then you're seeing how curly your hair actually is. 2) Heat damage can cause your hair to be less curly, and possibly even straighten your hair. I don't know if you use a flat iron regularly, but many girls who straight their hair have noticed their curls becoming looser as time passes and some even notice straight spots that no longer curls. This is because of damage from all the heat, and if they stop using heat and let their hair grow out then it'll grow back in it's same naturally curly state. 3) Hormones. Going through puberty or taking medicine that affects your hormones can permanently change your hair. Have you ever notice that someone who has straight blond hair as a child will grow up to have curly brown hair? That's hormones for you. This is all I can think of.
Give your hair extra moisture if it's very dry. The winter weather will certainly make your hair dryer so you need to protect it from the weather and give it more moisture than you would during the summer months. If you want straight hair then you have to flat iron, which can damage it, so be careful. You can also get a chemical hair straightener, but those are more damaging than flat irons, IMO.

Yes, maybe your hair is changing colour. It does that. If it REALLY does bother you. just use a bit of brown hair dye to touch up the roots :)

Its totally normal. I know a person who was naturally blond as a child and now has jet black hair and he never dye it. I'm pretty sure you can find products that can lighten your roots. I heard lemon also lightens hair.

Very possible.. I had naturally platinum blond hair as a baby & it's now a medium-dark blond naturally. I blame mine on dying my hair, but even before I did, it got a little darker over time.
