What a coincidence. I have few tiny pimples and liquid foundation makes me break out horribly. I went through many types of foundation trying to cover those teeny pimples and my uneven skin tone from anemia. The type I've found works best for me is Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse. I'm not going to lie, it's about 8-10 dollars depending where you shop/live. It works really well though. Powder isn't supposed to really 'cover up', it helps keep the foundation on instead of just sinking into your pores. Using a little amount it won't look chalky. If it does, you don't really need it. The Mousse covers most and evens skin tone. I don't use the powder because I don't like the chalky look either. Another tip for keeping your make up to stay on longer instead of powder (it also works for eyeshadow/eyeliner), and I know it sounds crazy, is to spray a little hairspray all over your face before applying the makeup on.
Don't worry, acne won't effect your life forever. I used to have really bad acne when I was 14, now I'm 18 and it only gets bad when I'm PMSing. Messing around with your zits leads to acne scars, try to limit on that. I'm guilty of popping zits because I can't stand them on my face but for me unless I mess with it when it's not ready, and continuously mess with it, it doesn't leave a scar.
