Couple of things: Sensitivity of human skin to sunlight varies due to a lot of factors like location/ how hydrated your skin is etc. Also, don't be fooled - realistically SPF 30 - 40 is what all commercially available sunblocks can offer. Anything which claims SPF 50 , SPF 70 or SPF 100 - technically should be blocking most of the sunlight - that might be one reason for you not getting tanned enough. Make sure you drink plenty of water/ fruit juices and keep your skin hydrated to keep the glow healthy/ uniform and not get damaging sunburns or pigmentation. Easy way is to get into a tanning booth - but please make sure you get to a professional place who know how long and how intense the UV exposure should be. Not to scare you, but over-exposure to these could induce skin cancer ...
