Why do stones in earrings get so much less shiny after youve had them a while?

And how can you prevent it/make it go away?

I know it has to do with like hairspray and stuff. But are there any cheap ways to get them shiny again?

If you brush gems with toothpaste it cleans off a lot of the build up from products and body oil. You might also want to look for a jewelery cleaning solution at the department store, they don't cost much and make jewelery shine like new!

There are jewelery cleaners out there that can help greatly! Any type of stone is going to get less shiny with the oils from your body and fingers.

Here is one product that you could use. Most products can easily be found at the nearest walmart or walgreens!

Thats what my mother and I use on our engagement rings :)
