ok so here's the thing first off i want to say that i use revlon colorstay because i heard it is like the best drugstore foundation. So this is how i apply my foundation please tell me if i am missing something/ doing something wrong

    1. I wash my face
    2. Apply clean and clears moisturizer
    3. Pour some foundation on the palm of my hand and use a regular thin foundation brush from walmart
    4. Lock it in with L'Oreal true match pressed powder

That's basically all i do and my face salways look cakey it's so gross I heard of primer but isn't that the same thing as regular mosturizer? and is primer really neccessary for makeup to look good? What else would you recommend me to do/buy??

p.s PLEASE don't suggest any MAC products or something pricy

try the the dream liquid mosse foundation. i don't know what the brand is though.
    NON CAKEY MAKEUP ROUTINE:
    - do your normal washing, cleansing, and moisturizing
    - dot the foundation on your face (i.e, forehead, cheeks, chin, nose) and then blend it in with brush
    - DO NOT use a kabuki brush for pressed powder, it ALWAYS goes on to heavy. i would use the sponge that comes with it
***i wear pressed powder and i dont like applying to much so i dip the sponge in the powder and put it in a seperate compact mirror so it won't get too much on it***

  3. well... usually if your foundation or powder looks cakey, then it's because you put on too much. next time u use your foundation, try to put a little less on and see if that helps any.
    hope i helped a little :)

One powder I like is Bareminerals (it's not horrifically expensive!) because I just brush on the powder and that's it. Try a different brand, EX CoverGirl to see if it helps, or just wear less make-up to see if it helps.

Primer is not the same thing as a moisturizer. A moisturizer is specifically made to moisturize the skin only. It has no make up advantages unless you use a tinted moisturizer. Some claim that moisturizer helps the foundation to adhere but that might be because they're using a light-weight moisturizer that won't interfere with the makeup. You should try using a lighter moisturizer like Neutrogena's line of facial moisturizers. I've found that they have a very light-weight formula with no stickyness either. Although a primer helps to make the makeup stay on longer you don't need it unless you need long lasting stay.

Another thing might be because you're using too many layers. Although I highly recommend L'Oreal's True Match line, a pressed powder shouldn't be used for sealing in foundation. A loose powder like Laura Mercier's Loose Powder is better because a pressed powder is essentially packed powder which means you're adding more and more layers onto your face giving you that cakey look. Try laying off the pressed powder and find a loose/translucent powder.

    Good luck. <3

If it looks cake-y, you're probably putting too much on. The key to wearing make up is to make it look like you're not wearing any. liquid foundation does tend to cake up. instead of a liquid foundation, try a loose powder or JUST the pressed powder. If you do want to use liquid make up though, try Clean and Clear's pore perfecting moisturizer for a base or a primer, but you really don't need it. Primer and moisturizer ARE NOT the same. Primer just helps the make up stick to your face and not slide off.

Blend, blend, blend and use less foundation if you can. Also make sure you're using a brush for your powder and not one of those pads that sometimes comes with pressed powders.

mineral makeup is a girls best friend <3 It goes on flawlessly. its the only thing I use to cover blemishes. its light and it takes less than a minute to apply. its amazing! I wish they had this stuff when I was highschool/middleschool
